CRM
CACS supports several different Salesforce Orgs at UVA, but we aim to consolidate user groups into existing Orgs when possible, specifically our “Gateway” Org that is built on Salesforce’s Education Data Architecture (EDA) model. In this shared Org, we pull in data from the following source systems on a daily basis:
- SIS
- Workday
- ResearchUVA
- Recon@
- Symplectic Elements
- Handshake
The benefit of this Org is that departments can leverage custom objects and workflows developed for other use cases, but still rely on Salesforce’s sophisticated security model to lock down what users' ability to view and/or edit data records. We have developed several service areas related to tracking research grants & proposals, faculty activity, corporate engagement, course and faculty contracts, internship applications and placement, as well as case management.
Marketing Cloud
CACS manages two business units under an enterprise license with Salesforce Marketing Cloud:
- Mass Mail and
- Internal Newsletters & Mailings.
In each unit, we import SIS and Workday data from our CACS Central data warehouse and then segment that data as needed by our user groups. As a result, senders have access to email lists that are refreshed daily. They no longer need to manually update contact spreadsheets and can instead, focus on the effectiveness of their messaging using Marketing Cloud’s advanced services.
